Current issues in auditing

The audit of the annual financial statements serves as an independent assessment of the correctness of the annual financial statements and is therefore a central instrument of external company monitoring. Before an audit begins, the auditor must check, among other things, the independence and admissibility of accompanying services. During the audit, external or internal experts may also be consulted, whose involvement entails specific documentation and responsibility requirements. The consideration of erroneous financial statements from previous years and the auditor's risk management also present practical challenges. As part of the seminar, these selected topics of accepting and processing mandates and quality assurance are addressed and dealt with academically by the students in independent written papers. The seminar paper serves as preparation for the Master's thesis and is intended to identify possible topics for this. The developed content is then presented in groups and discussed together. The exact topics will be assigned during the kick-off.

The seminar in cooperation with EY is part of module III together with the master seminar in cooperation with Baker Tilly in the summer semester and the seminar "Corporate Governance of Public Organizations" by Prof. Leisyte in the summer semester. You can only take one of the three seminars for module III!
