Description
The annual financial statements present the economic situation of a company at the end of the financial year and are aimed at both internal and external recipients, such as investors. They serve as an important control instrument and provide information for corporate and investment planning. When preparing the annual financial statements, companies must, for example, take into account the basic principles of annual financial statements under commercial law or the going concern principle. The annual financial statements are audited by an auditor, who must, for example, examine the going concern principle and deal with any corrections of errors in the annual financial statements. As part of the seminar, the principles of preparing and auditing annual financial statements are addressed and developed academically by the students in independent written papers. The written paper serves as preparation for the Master's thesis and at the same time is intended to identify possible topics for the Master's thesis. The topics developed are then presented and discussed by the students in groups. The exact topics will be assigned during the kick-off.
Note
The seminar in cooperation with EY is part of module III together with the master seminar in cooperation with Baker Tilly in the summer semester and the seminar "Corporate Governance of Public Organizations" by Prof. Leisyte in the summer semester.
